These easy-to-make Everything Bagels are packed with flavor and require no yeast or long rise times. Whether you choose Lesley Elizabeth Detroit Steak Rub or our bold Everything Bagel Seasoning, you’ll enjoy a savory, satisfying homemade bagel with minimal effort.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose or whole wheat flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ¾ teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 cup non-fat Greek yogurt
- 1 egg white, beaten
- 1 tablespoon Detroit Steak Rub or Everything Bagel Seasoning
- 1 teaspoon poppy seeds (omit if using Everything Bagel Seasoning)
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (omit if using Everything Bagel Seasoning)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment and lightly spray with oil.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Add yogurt and mix until the dough resembles crumbles.
- Lightly flour a work surface. Knead the dough about 15 turns until tacky but not sticky.
- Divide dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each into a ¾-inch thick rope and shape into a bagel, or make a ball and poke a hole in the center.
- If using Detroit Steak Rub: mix it with sesame and poppy seeds. Brush bagels with egg white and coat both sides with the seasoning blend. If using Everything Bagel Seasoning, sprinkle directly on both sides.
- Place on prepared baking sheet and bake on top rack for 25 minutes. Cool at least 10 minutes before slicing.
Air Fryer Option:
- Preheat air fryer to 325°F (165°C).
- Place bagels in basket without overcrowding.
- Air fry for 11–12 minutes, no need to turn.
- Let cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
Serving Suggestions:
- Top with cream cheese, avocado, or smoked salmon.
- Use as a sandwich base or serve alongside soups.
- Great for brunch spreads, breakfast on the go, or savory snacks.
