Ingredients (Makes 4 Servings):
- ½ cup butter
- 2 tablespoons minced garlic
- 2 lbs eye of round steak (or any steak/meat/vegetarian substitute)
- 26 oz baby Yukon potatoes, washed and cut into 1-inch pieces
- ¼ cup onion, diced
- ½ cup cooked bacon, diced
- ½ cup green onion, diced (for garnish)
- 2 tablespoons Detroit Steak Seasoning
- ¼ cup shredded cheese (any blend)
Instructions:
1. Prep the Grill and Garlic Butter
Preheat your grill to medium heat. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine butter and minced garlic. Heat for 30 seconds or until fully melted. Stir to blend into a rich garlic butter.
2. Season the Steak
Rub 1 tablespoon of Detroit Steak Seasoning onto both sides of the steak. Slice steak into 2-inch strips for well-done, or 4-inch pieces for medium-rare. Larger pieces will cook more rare.
3. Mix the Potato Base
In a mixing bowl, combine chopped baby Yukon potatoes, diced onion, the remaining 1 tablespoon of Steak Seasoning, and half of the garlic butter. Stir well to coat.
4. Assemble the Foil Packs
Tear 4–6 sheets of heavy-duty foil (about 15 inches each). Divide the potato mixture evenly among the foil sheets. Place steak slices on top and drizzle with the remaining garlic butter.
5. Seal and Grill
Fold foil into sealed pouches to trap in juices. Place foil packs on the hot grill. Cover and cook for 7–10 minutes on one side. Flip and grill another 5–7 minutes, or until potatoes are fork-tender.
6. Add Cheese and Bacon
Carefully open the foil packs. Sprinkle on cooked bacon and shredded cheese. Reseal loosely and return to the grill for 2–3 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
7. Serve
Remove from grill and garnish with chopped green onion. Serve hot directly from the pack or plate it up for a rustic, flavorful dinner that’s big on t
