Ingredients:
- ⅓ cup plus 1½ tablespoons Lesley Elizabeth Double Roasted Garlic Oil
- ½ cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1½ pounds broccoli rabe, trimmed
- 1 pound shell pasta
- ½ pound sweet Italian sausage (bulk, no casing)
- 1 tablespoon chopped garlic
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- ½ cup grated Romano or Parmesan cheese
Instructions:
1. Toast the Breadcrumbs:
In a small skillet over medium-low heat, warm 1½ tablespoons Double Roasted Garlic Oil. Add the breadcrumbs and stir to coat. Cook, stirring frequently, until golden brown and fragrant (about 10 minutes). Transfer to a plate and let cool.
2. Cook the Broccoli Rabe:
Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil and add 2 tablespoons salt. Add broccoli rabe and cook for 2–3 minutes until stems are just tender. Immediately transfer to a sieve and rinse under cold water. Drain, gently squeeze to remove excess moisture, chop coarsely, and set aside.
3. Cook the Pasta:
In the same boiling water, cook the pasta shells according to package instructions. Stir occasionally. Reserve 2 ladlefuls of pasta water before draining.
4. Prepare the Sausage Mixture:
